About this atlas

Editorial position

This application visualizes the narrative and claims of The Urantia Book. It does not present the book's cosmology, chronology, geology, anthropology, or racial classifications as established scientific or historical fact. Book narrative, editorial inference, and modern context are kept visibly distinct: every record carries a perspective and a confidence label.

Sensitive terminology

The book uses racial categories and value judgements that are archaic and sometimes offensive. Source terms are preserved where they are needed for accurate study, always marked as book terminology, never applied to present-day people, and never rendered as a visual ranking, a skin-tone swatch, or a hierarchy of worth. See the glossary for the terms most likely to confuse or mislead.

Confidence and geometry

• Stated — the text gives the date, place, or relationship directly.
• Approximate — the text bounds it loosely; the original wording is kept in the date display.
• Editorial reconstruction — positioned by this atlas for legibility; the text does not specify it. Drawn with dotted outlines and hatching.

Migration routes show direction between an origin and a destination. The text almost never describes a path, so arcs are deliberately broad. Modern coastlines appear only as a toggleable reference grid; they are not a paleogeographic reconstruction and are never silently mixed with ancient geography.

Dataset status

Content version 0.1.0, revised 2026-08-29. It currently contains 35 events, 19 peoples and named ancestors, 18 places, 16 migration routes, and 22 stated relationships drawn from Papers 57–81.

Known limitations of this release. Citations deep-link to the standardized edition on urantia.org at paper level; paragraph-level verification against the canonical local 1955 HTML edition has not yet been performed, because that edition is not present in this repository. Treat individual paragraph numbers as provisional until that pass is complete. Dates are drawn from the book's own figures and rendered as years before 1950 CE. The MVP acceptance targets of 75 events, 25 entities, and 20 routes are not yet met.

Accessibility

The atlas targets WCAG 2.2 AA. Every map and timeline object is reachable by keyboard, has a visible focus state, and has a text equivalent in the event list and the relationship list. Nothing is discoverable by hover alone, animation respects prefers-reduced-motion, and interactive targets are at least 44 × 44 CSS pixels.

Corrections

Corrections are triaged separately from feature requests. Please report a mis-cited paragraph, a disputed geometry, or wording that misrepresents the source, and include the canonical reference (for example 64:6.1).
